Shubham Kumar shares his inspiring journey from a small town in Bihar to public speaking, anchoring, competitions, podcasts, and motivational speaking.
16 Inspiring Lessons from Shubham Kumar’s Remarkable Journey of Success
“Goals are achieved by those who have dreams and the courage to pursue them. Wings alone cannot make you fly; it is your determination that gives you the power to soar.”
This thought beautifully reflects the journey of Shubham Kumar, a young speaker and storyteller who began his journey from a small town in Bihar and gradually built his identity through public speaking, anchoring, competitions and digital content.
Coming from Munger, Bihar, Shubham Kumar grew up with dreams that were bigger than the conventional expectations surrounding him. Like many families, his family also wanted him to focus on getting a government job. However, he always felt that his path was different. He wanted to explore his abilities, communicate with people and build something of his own.
His decision to follow a different path sometimes created disagreements at home. There were moments when he and his family did not speak for days. Yet, despite the challenges, Shubham Kumar remained determined to pursue his dreams.
The Struggle That Started in Class 6
The real beginning of Shubham Kumar’s struggle can be traced back to Class 6, when he participated in a speech competition.
Instead of receiving encouragement, he became the target of jokes from some of the other students, who made fun of his voice and told him that it sounded like a girl’s voice. The experience deeply affected him. Out of fear of being mocked again, he stopped participating in competitions for a long time.
But that setback did not define his future.

The Meeting That Changed Everything
A major turning point came in 2019 when Shubham Kumar attended a seminar by Shashish Kumar Tiwari, a well-known personality and speaker with a strong presence on social media and YouTube.
Listening to him speak made Shubham Kumar realise that public speaking could become more than just an interest. He wanted to become a confident communicator himself.
From that point forward, he started participating in different events and competitions. Every opportunity taught him something new and helped him gradually overcome his hesitation.
Turning Lockdown Into an Opportunity
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown.
For Shubham Kumar, however, the lockdown became an opportunity to work on himself. Instead of spending his time simply consuming content online, he decided to create content and become more comfortable in front of the camera.
He started making videos for different social media platforms. This period helped him become more camera-friendly and gave him the confidence to express himself publicly.
Later, Shubham Kumar moved to Allahabad University for his undergraduate studies. University life gave him a larger platform to develop his communication skills.
He actively participated in speech and debate competitions and went on to win more than 30 competitions within a year.
His achievements started getting noticed, and several NGOs and schools invited Shubham Kumar to motivate and interact with students.

The Moment When Everything Came Full Circle
One of the most memorable moments in Shubham Kumar’s journey came when he got the opportunity to anchor a seminar featuring renowned UPSC educator Awadh Ojha in front of around 5,000 people.
For him, the moment was deeply emotional.
The same kind of public speaking that he had once feared had now become his strength. The people who had once laughed at his voice were now sitting in the audience and applauding him.
For Shubham Kumar, this was more than an achievement. It was proof that consistent effort can turn an old insecurity into a powerful strength.
Recognition on Bigger Platforms
The journey continued to grow.
In 2023, Shubham Kumar participated in the International Public Speaking Championship in Delhi, where he received the Best Storytelling Award.
He later participated in a national-level online public speaking competition and was recognised there as well.
His achievements continued during his UPSC preparation in Delhi. At Drishti IAS, a debate competition was organised under the guidance of UPSC educator Vikas Devkriti. Shubham Kumar participated in the competition alongside around 200 contestants and secured the first position.
For him, every competition was not merely about winning. It was another opportunity to test himself, learn and become better.

From Rejection to Hosting Celebrities
On July 26, 2025, Shubham Kumar was invited as a keynote speaker at an award show, where he shared his personal journey and was honoured for his speaking abilities.
But his journey also included moments of rejection.
While searching for anchoring opportunities in Delhi, he sent his profile to more than 100 people. Only one person called him for an opportunity.
When he reached the venue, the management heard his voice and rejected him, saying that his Bihari accent was not suitable for anchoring.
The rejection was painful and demotivating, but Shubham Kumar chose not to stop.
Instead, he continued working on his communication and presentation skills. Slowly, his efforts began to show results.
He eventually got opportunities to host shows featuring prominent personalities, including actress Akshara Singh, comedian Surendra Sharma, Shashish Kumar Tiwari and Buxar MLA Anand Mishra.
The same voice that someone once considered a weakness had now become a part of his identity as a speaker and anchor.
A New Chapter Through Podcasts
Never limiting himself to anchoring, Shubham Kumar also began a new journey on YouTube by creating podcasts featuring personalities from different fields.
His guests have included IAS officers, entrepreneurs, social activists, scientists and other accomplished individuals.
Through these conversations, he created a platform where people could share their experiences, knowledge, challenges and stories with a wider audience.
One of the most satisfying moments came when event managers who had once mocked or rejected him began watching his videos, appreciating his work and even sharing his content on their social media statuses.

A Story of Courage and Persistence
The story of Shubham Kumar is not simply about awards, competitions or successful appearances. It is about persistence.
His journey began with a child who was afraid to speak because people made fun of his voice. It continued with a young man who faced disagreements at home, rejection from opportunities, criticism about his accent and countless moments of self-doubt.
Yet every setback became another reason to improve.
Today, Shubham Kumar stands as an example of how determination can transform a weakness into a strength. His story shows that success does not always happen overnight. Sometimes, it is built slowly through hundreds of attempts, rejections, failures and small victories.
The journey of Shubham Kumar also carries an important message for young people who are afraid of being judged.
You do not have to begin with perfect confidence. You simply have to begin.
The voice that people once laughed at can become the voice that thousands listen to. The person who once avoided competitions can eventually stand on large stages. The individual who once received rejection can eventually create opportunities for himself and others.
Shubham Kumar’s journey is a reminder that your starting point does not determine your destination.
As he says, if he could come from where he started and reach where he is today, then anyone with determination can move forward too.
Sometimes, all it takes is the courage to take the first step and the strength to keep walking when nobody else believes in you.
