Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours: Build Biz Worth Lakhs & Transform Indian Kitchens

Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours to every Indian kitchen they reach, and what started as a lockdown experiment has quietly grown into a thriving business that is reshaping how Indian families taste the world without ever leaving home.

Dea and Ojasvi Sharma, two sisters from Mumbai, joined hands with their mother Hema to launch Chilzo a food brand dedicated to bringing the most authentic sauces and condiments from Italy, Africa, Mexico, and China straight to Indian dinner tables.

Picture this: your everyday meal elevated into something extraordinary, with flavours that transport you to the streets of Morocco, the kitchens of Italy, or the bustling markets of China, all from the comfort of your own home.

That is exactly the promise Chilzo makes to every customer. From Morocco’s bold and fiery harissa to China’s beloved chilli oil and schezwan sauce, and from Italy’s rich marinara to its deeply flavourful arrabbiata, every jar is crafted to deliver a genuinely international experience.

Officially co-founded in 2022, Chilzo now offers its range across four distinct flavour categories Italian, African, Mexican, and Chinese catering to a growing community of food-conscious consumers who want more than just taste. They want truth in every bite.

The brand currently serves close to 7,000 customers every month, with its strongest following in Delhi, Mumbai, and southern India. Mom & Daughters brings global flavours to thousands of homes every single month, and the numbers keep growing because the product simply speaks for itself.

“India is evolving fast when it comes to embracing international food. But the problem was that no one was truly offering authentic foreign flavours. I wanted to fill that gap and give people at home a real taste of the world,” says Dea.

From a Traveller’s Palate to a Business Idea

Dea’s relationship with food began long before Chilzo existed. After graduating from Drexel University, she joined a marketing firm in Philadelphia, a role that took her across continents, into restaurant kitchens, and alongside traditional chefs who taught her what authenticity in food truly means.

When the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill in early 2019, Dea returned to India and found herself working from home. The vibrant food culture she had built her life around overseas was suddenly out of reach.

“Hotels were shut, restaurants were closed, and at home we were eating the same simple meals every day. My sister and I were going crazy wanting something exciting to eat,” she recalls.

Hema, their mother, remembers it fondly. “They were always asking for something different. And since we were all home together with no help, we started cooking as a family. That is really when both of them caught the cooking bug.” Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours and the entire journey began right there in a home kitchen, during a pandemic, with three women who refused to settle for ordinary food.

Ojasvi, who had always loved eating but never cooking, found herself pulled into the kitchen out of pure craving. “After years of hostel food, I just needed something good. I was obsessed with pasta, so we started there, making arrabbiata and marinara from scratch,” she says.

The two sisters divided the work naturally. Ojasvi would develop and refine the recipe while Dea would taste, evaluate, and push for perfection. “We failed at least fifteen times before we got it right. We had no professional training, just YouTube, our mother’s guidance, and a lot of stubbornness,” Ojasvi admits with a laugh.

From pasta sauces, they expanded their experiments to include flavours from China and Africa. Dea’s exposure to international food gave them a distinct advantage. She knew what these dishes were supposed to taste like, and that knowledge became the compass for every recipe they developed. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours not from a recipe book but from real travel, real experience, and fifteen rounds of trial and error that eventually produced something worth sharing.

After perfecting their initial range, the trio distributed 200 sample jars to friends, family, and neighbours. The response was overwhelmingly positive and made one thing clear this was not just a hobby. This was a business waiting to happen. And so Chilzo was born.

Building a Real Business from Scratch

Turning a home kitchen project into a registered company was not a straightforward process. After twelve months of research, development, and quiet preparation, the family set up a proper manufacturing unit in Mumbai that today employs thirty people.

“The day we inaugurated our facility was the same day I put in my resignation,” says Dea. “It was emotional and terrifying and exciting all at once. I genuinely loved my career, but this felt like the right move.” Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours and Dea made the leap of faith on the most significant day of the venture choosing family, food, and a shared dream over everything she had built before.

None of the three had any background in the food industry, which meant every step came with a learning curve. Terms like GT and MT stores were foreign to them. Understanding margins, distribution channels, packaging requirements, and shelf-life management all had to be figured out from the ground up.

“We would sit with retailers and industry veterans who were kind enough to walk us through the basics. I was nervous almost all the time. But we kept showing up and asking questions, and eventually things started making sense,” Dea says.

Today, Chilzo products are priced accessibly between Rs 129 and Rs 300 and are available on major e-commerce platforms including BigBasket, Amazon, and Flipkart. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours at a price point that makes the world’s finest tastes available to every household because authentic food should never be a luxury.

Authenticity as a Non-Negotiable Standard

What truly separates Chilzo from every other sauce brand on the market is its refusal to take shortcuts. Every product is made using the traditional methods of its country of origin, without additions like water, sugar, or unnecessary preservatives.

“A real Italian cook simmers tomatoes in extra virgin olive oil for eight hours. That is exactly what we do. No shortcuts, no fillers. And because we skip the sugar, our products are also diabetic-friendly,” explains Dea. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours the right way following methods that have been perfected over generations in kitchens across the world, because they believe that if you are going to bring the world to someone’s table, you owe them the real thing.

Their schezwan sauce follows the authentic Sichuan tradition, made with genuine Sichuan peppercorns, farm celery, and sunflower oil. Their pesto stays true to Genoa’s original recipe, featuring crushed pine nuts, hand-chopped herbs, and aged parmesan cheese. Most of their specialty ingredients are imported directly from their countries of origin.

“We source our parmesan from Europe because there is simply no substitute,” says Dea. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours by going the extra mile importing what cannot be replicated locally, because they know that the soul of a dish lies in the quality of what goes into it.

Consumer education has been one of their more unexpected challenges. People loved the products but were not always sure how to use them. Chilzo addressed this by creating detailed usage guides on their website, helping customers get the most out of every jar they buy. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours and then make sure every customer knows exactly how to use those flavours because the experience does not end at the checkout, it begins in the kitchen.

For Hema, however, the most meaningful part of this entire journey has nothing to do with business. “Dea was planning to stay in the US and Ojasvi was finishing her studies. By some beautiful coincidence, they both came back at the same time. Now we are together every single day, doing something we all believe in,” she says warmly. Mom & Daughters Bring Global Flavours to Indian homes, and in the process, brought something far more valuable back into their own each other, side by side, every single day, building a legacy that belongs to all three of them equally.
